One of the first things you should do after you’ve got your affiliate page up and running with your ad’s is to start gathering email addresses. You can’t just sign up to Aweber and put a subscribe form on your site and think that people will start subscribing, you MUST put up a special page and then give away something that your customers would like to have for free in exchange for their email address. This is VERY important or you will just not get anyone signing up.
For example, on one of my ebook sites, I’m offering a series of daily emails as a learning course for the vertical I’m advertising (product). This way, if someone is interested in the product or technology, they can sign up for the FREE email course. When I added the free course, people were flocking to sign up to my list. This email course also has affiliate links in it for the products that I’m selling on the site. With Aweber, you can easily create what’s called “Follow Up” messages. I setup a 5 day course that starts the day they sign up and they get an additional email every day for 5 days. Each email explains the benefits of the product and why they should purchase the ebooks. I also have additional follow up emails that are spread out about a week apart offering additional products that are in the same industry. This way they will receive other offers on a weekly basis and guess what… It works!! I’ve sold to about 60% of my list already. It works really well. The nice part of this is you only have to set it up once and when people subscribe to your mailing list, it automatically just sends out the emails.
Here are some tips to follow when having a newsletter or what ever you want to call it to gather email addresses in your list.
- Get (or write) a daily course that lasts between 3 and 7 days on the subject or give them something for free like an e-book
- Set EVRYTHING up first and test it on yourself
- Setup the follow up emails to deliver to your subscribers on a daily basis
- Put you affiliate links in the course and test them!
- Check you spelling!!!
- have graphics and videos in your course (aweber supports this)
- Setup follow up emails that fire off about a week apart
- Sign yourself up for the course and make sure EVERHTYING works correctly
- Add your Aweber Web Form to your site or blog
Now seems pretty easy doesn’t it! After I started my “Receive a free email course” to my site and I had over 1000 subscribers, I started to campaign them with a new product and they started buying this as well. Now I’ve got people purchasing two products from us. This is the great part of affliliate marketing. You can continue to email them because you have their permission to. Now that said… DO NOT get any lists by purchasing them and adding the list to your account. This will only get you banned from aweber and the network you’re getting your products from. This is a bad thing and NEVER do it.
